If you hate your job, we salute you for hanging in there. Everybody at some point in their life has had a job they tolerated. The good news is that you can turn a tolerated job into something that you really like to do. Here are some tips to consider if you want to do that.

Make Your Workspace Comfortable

If your workspace is a tiny cubicle or behind a cash register, prioritize cleanliness and organization to make your stay at work comfortable. Make your workspace an extension of your personality to make it fun since this is where you spend the majority of your time. You can add knickknacks that make the space an exciting place to work in. Cashiers, for example, can add padded cushions to their chairs for a more comfortable seat; cubicles can be customized so that your personality shines through.

Do Something Fun or Relaxing Outside Work

If you’re reading this, you probably don’t see yourself at the same job 10 years from now. Your passion or interest could like elsewhere and that’s the reason why you don’t really love your job right now. This is the reason why you should fuel other interests when you’re off the clock. This can be a hobby, activity or business that you might want to pursue later on.

Keep Setting Goals

Even if your job is just something you tolerate, it does not mean to say that you have to be bad at it. Continue to set goals that you can control because it can still affect your future. If you continue to challenge and better yourself, the job you tolerate could lead to a promotion or a better job in the future. It can also lead to rewards such as bonuses or a pay increase. Keep on working hard and accomplish what’s in your power and continue to perform. This can help you improve your work attitude and impress your superiors.

Learn As Much As You Can

The best way to break the monotony of your job is to learn new things whenever you can. Training yourself to do more than what is required can help you get new skill sets that could be valuable in the future. For some people, a new skill could mean promotions since ambitiousness is one of the traits some supervisors are looking for.

Be Consistently Early

You’re probably asking why somebody would want to show up early for a job they tolerate. For many this seems counter-intuitive but showing up early will give set a good pace for your shift and give you momentum. Being early will give you time to get into the proper mind set and set you apart in the eyes of your superiors which could lead to promotions.

Have Fun With Co-workers

So long as it does not interfere with productivity, have fun, play games and share jokes with co-workers. This is a good way to get morale up while working and a good way to let off steam when you’re stressed. Having fun is also a good way to clear your head and relax while you’re on the job.

Always be grateful that you have a job because there are many people who would beg to have yours. Don’t take it for granted. It is not perfect, it may not be something you want to do for the rest of your life but focusing on how to make it likable today will make your job matter and become enjoyable.
