Elon Musk Wants To Create a Supersonic Electric Jet

On land, Tesla is one of the luxury electric cars and trucks out there. In space, SpaceX leads in launching rockets, humans, and cargo into space. Now, Elon Musk wants to take it to the skies. Learn more about the billionaire’s plans in another transportation-related industry.

‘Dying’ to Make a Supersonic Electric VTOL Jet

Entrepreneur and speaker Peter H. Diamantis tweeted on Oct. 8, 2021, curious about Elon Musk’s next venture. He suggests that Musk takeover the aviation industry.

In turn, Musk responds with a tweet wanting to build a “supersonic, electric VTOL jet.” Although that’s his wish, Musk added a brain and dynamite emoji, suggesting that his brain or head will explode from the work he’s currently doing.

However, not everyone was on the same boat as Diamantis after asking what else Musk could do in the future. Desalination was a popular answer among tweeters. Meanwhile, some have also suggested doing programs for the poor and advancing medical technologies.

It wasn’t the first time that the billionaire had spoken of developing a jet. He shared on a podcast with Joe Rogan that he already has a plane design ready. It will have a vertical takeoff and landing. He plans on using a battery pack and the gravitational potential energy, among others, to help him achieve supersonic speed on a jet. Even then, he did mention that he was too busy to create this technology.

His Current Ventures

The well-known tech billionaire has a lot on his plate. Aside from being the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, he also heads Neuralink and The Boring Company.

Let’s get up to speed with recent updates from his companies.

One of SpaceX’s current successes is its Dragon capsule, launching four non-astronauts (Inspiration4) into space while they orbit and enjoy views of the planet we call home.

Tesla has also made a move from California to Austin, Texas, where its new gigafactory has been built and their HQ relocation. Plus, its much anticipated Cybertruck will be deployed to customers in 2022.

The Future

The future holds many possibilities for Elon Musk and his ideas or what he envisions to come to life.

Tesla

When it comes to Tesla, Elon Musk has different ideas. First, he plans on building a much cheaper Tesla, priced at $25,000. This won’t be the first more affordable model. In 2019, it was announced that the Model S would be priced at $35,000.

Another thing in the pipeline is a gigafactory in Germany as well. But it’s not only in Germany that there are planned gigafactory constructions. They’re also eyeing Asia as another continent. That said, India may be seeing Teslas driving around the streets too.

SpaceX

The mission to Mars is still on the list for SpaceX. Although they’re not the first to go to Mars, a SpaceX project will have a monumental impact on the aerospace company. They plan to have Starship be the official SpaceX project to land on Mars. But it won’t make its first trip to Mars.

In 2023, a Japanese businessman, Yusaku Maezawa, plans on having a private flight to the moon using the SpaceX Starship.

The Boring Company

The Hyperloop is promising in transportation. As mentioned on The Boring Company website, it has been in development for over a decade. While they did the prototyping in 2016, the company remains hopeful that future Hyperloops could come to fruition.

The idea is it will cut travel time from Washington DC to NY. Instead of taking a four-hour drive back and forth, the Hyperloop CAN make you travel to the two places within 30 minutes. Guess you can’t use an excuse for being late anymore if this happens.
