These Will Smith Slap Memes Really Slap

It was the “slap heard ‘round the world,” according to all media publications writing about Will Smith smacking the sh!t out of Chris Rock. If you didn’t see the Will Smith slap at the Oscars last night, I respect you. But for the rest of us, it was the most interesting thing to happen at an Oscars show in a long, long time. 

Will got in one little fight and the world just stared. And that’s when Will sat back in his seat and threw out some swears. 

…sorry, couldn’t help it. 

If this is the gritty reboot of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, I’m here for it. 

While it’s never cool to smack anyone over a silly joke, the best thing to come out of this live assault in front of millions was the memeing.

Think we can retire the Batman Slaps meme now? 

The memeability of the Will Smith slap is one for the ages. 

I mean… look at these! Glorious. 

Can you imagine how awkward it must have felt to sit near Smith after that? 

Funny how he won an Oscar shortly after his very public, sanctimonious assault. 

Plenty of people have suggested online that the slap was manufactured.

Comedy Central Roast should assume that any Roast of Will Smith will end up like this: 

What do you think about the Will Smith slap? Was he right? Was he wrong? Is this what the Oscars have become in order to get ratings? Now that Maury is off the air the Oscars are going to pick up the slack? 

No matter what, the Will Smith slap will forever be an Oscars moment and will almost certainly overshadow his first-ever Oscar win.
