AI-tech used to upskill workers in Edrington

Since September 2019, the Scottish whiskey company, Edrington, has trained its staff using an AI-powered site. The online portal used educational tech to provide better course engagement. Furthermore, it also got higher completion rates than previous programs. In just two years, Edrington’s 3,000 employees have consumed 28,000 pieces of content.

This week in tech, the company said it has been looking to orient itself to luxury brands. This, in turn, required new ways of training. Eventually, they settled on improving their learning and development platform.

The new platform offers a central all-in-one system. The system called Decreed uses machine learning to identify which skills employees want in their resumes. Apart from that, It also matches them to new courses and even allows them to create projects relevant to the skills they want to have. 

The new system has drastically changed the learning means in the company. It can even help employees, and the actual company, make smarter decisions in the future. 

Kroger’s new CIO seeks to boost customer experience with tech

Also in the latest in business tech news: Kroger has sought to lift its retail operations by investing in technology. Since a boom of customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, the retail foodservice has set its sights to improve customer relations. With families in lockdown, food and groceries have mostly shifted to the online market. This has led its CIO, Yael Cosset, to look into digital transformation to overcome the new challenges of the retail company. 

This week in tech, the company introduced its new partner in crime in operations. To grow its new operation models, Kroger has partnered with Ocado to bring its goals to fruition. Through Ocado’s software engineers, Kroger seeks to leverage AI, robotics tech, and automation for its Customer Facility Centers (CFC).

These new centers provide personalized experiences for customers, aside from giving them better service. Alongside CFC centers, Kroger also plans to boost its presence all over the country through same-day delivery schemes. Its Quick Commerce Model only grows as the threat of COVID-19 stays. 

Post-Covid, Zoom to go from video meetings app to unified collaborations platform

This week in tech, Zoom is looking to scale up. Since the pandemic, Zoom has proven to be a power player in the industry scene. From schools to the business sector, the company was hailed as the elite for its easy-to-use app.

However, as the need for video collabs decreases, Zoom is now looking for new markets. This week in tech, the company has announced a few changes to boost sales in the vaccine economy. A few months ago the company announced a decrease in profits. Return to office mandates has affected company growth. 

Now, the company is gearing up for another transition. This time, it is setting up its sights to broaden brand awareness. To do this, Zoom has released its new Contact Center product.

The company describes it as an omnichannel that can help customers engage with the company. As a plus, users can integrate it into their company Zoom accounts. Zoom hopes to break into new markets and garner international clients using this new service. In fact, they also plan to sell Zoom Room and Zoom Phone in the future.
