The Secrets to a Successful Social Media Campaign

Up to 4 billion users, worldwide eCommerce sales of $4.28 trillion, and over 52,000 average minutes spent on social media in 2020 alone. Three primary reasons why you need to know the secrets to a successful social media campaign.

Speaker and author Ryan Lilly once said, “Social media is not just a spoke on the wheel of marketing. It’s becoming the way entire bicycles are built.” If you’re not yet upping your social media game, now’s the right time to start.

Let’s get down to it:

Strategize!

Create a plan, have a strategy in place, know your audience, understand your company, and let everyone on the team in on it. This ensures all your strategies are consistent and solid. Beware though, it isn’t just about creating a strategy but more so in making it work towards your goals.

Set Attainable Goals

Making unrealistic goals can lead to setting yourself up for disappointment. Follow the SMART rules:

Specific. Instead of aiming for increased traffic in your website, go for increasing traffic on the Order page. Avoid making generic goals that are hard to get the results of.

Measurable. Always check data analytics to see if your efforts at social media campaigning are bearing fruits. Otherwise, changing strategy is your best bet.

Attainable. Instead of pushing for a million followers, go for something more within your reach. Start with hundreds, then a thousand, and go on from there.

Relevant. However bombastic or mind-blowing your strategy is, make sure it is relevant. This is why understanding what drives your audience’s behaviors is important.

Time-Specific. Give yourself a time-limit so you’ll know if your campaign is working or not. Aiming for something like, “a certain amount of sales in a two-month period.”

Choose Your Platforms Wisely

Don’t go around every social media platform and burn yourself out trying to create a social media campaign for each one. As they say, “choose your battles wisely.” Learn where your target audience hangs out the most and focus on them.

Engage and Interact

Social media has given businesses the channel to get deep and personal with their customers. It allows you to communicate with them directly and know their pain points. This will give your brand a human image, plus it’s a good way to do a bit of damage control.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said, “If you make customers unhappy in the physical world, they might each tell 6 friends. If you make customers unhappy on the Internet, they can each tell 6,000 friends.”

Avoid Being Too Salesy

Showing what your company can do for your customers without being too salesy is a great trick to learn. People hate being sold to, that’s why ad blockers are a hit. Yes, big named brands like Coke and Nike would want to sell their wares, that’s why they do social media. But if you look at their campaigns, they’re mostly about becoming part of their customers’ family rather than making profits.

Measure Your ROI

Make sure all your time and effort spent engaging, building, marketing, and establishing your online presence is working. Most platforms provide analytics to help you see what works, when, and how. In turn, you can use the info to tweak whatever needs tweaking and create the best social media campaigns for your brand.
