What is it with powerful Catholics and corruption? They seem to go hand-in-hand, no? Sister Mary Margaret Kreuper, 80, has pled guilty to stealing over $800,000 from a California Catholic school to cover credit card debt and to gamble.

How pious.

Kreuper was sentenced to one year in federal prison and ordered to pay the money back in restitution.

I have sinned, I’ve broken the law, and I have no excuses.

“My actions were in violation of my vows, my commandments, the law, and, above all, the sacred trust that so many had placed in me.

“I was wrong and I’m profoundly sorry for the pain and suffering I’ve caused so many people.”

Kreuper was principal at St. James Catholic School in Torrence for 28 years. She was responsible for managing tuition, fees and charitable donations, as well as the school’s financial accounts at a credit union.

So, naturally, she made several trips to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe.

What else would you do with the money? Buy school supplies? Feed and clothe the poor? Invest in NFTs? Get real, this is the Catholic Church, guys. They’re going to spend it on gambling or relocating the latest child abuser.

It never ceases to amaze how people who claim to be the peak of virtue gleefully take part in criminal actions. It’s almost as if they’ve been too powerful and too infallible for too long.
