Highlights of the Philly Auto Show

The Philly Auto Show is a rare opportunity for the public to get a glimpse of what’s to come in 2017. The show features just about every mainstream auto manufacturer and has hundreds of cars on display. We can’t possibly cover each and every vehicle, so we’ll just cover the fun ones. Our media team hit the carpet on Jan 27th for exclusive media access to preview the cars before opening to the public on Jan 28, 2017. Below are some of the highlighted vehicles at the show and their specs.

Acura NSX 2017

The Acura NSX is anything BUT ordinary. From the angular body design, to the bespoke 75 degree twin turbo V6 Engine combined with 3 electric motors, 9 speed dual clutch transmission, and Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive (yea, it’s long…call it SH-AWD) system, the 2017 Acura NSX is new, bold, and delivers 573 horse power. Audi R8 Spyder

Audi’s line of supercars didn’t disappoint this year as they released a 2017 version of the Audi R8 Spyder. For those who aren’t familiar with what Spyder means, it doesn’t have anything to do with the arachnid. Spyder means it’s a convertible. We’re not sure how they got “convertible” out of the word “Spyder”, but our guess is that it’s more attractive to slap that onto the supercar’s name.

Don’t let the dazzling look and awe-inspiring front grille fool you. The new 2017 Audi R8 Spyder is anything but tame. Outfitted with a 5.2L V10 engine cranking out 540 HP, 398 lbs of torque, and promises it’s drivers 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, even hitting a top speed of almost 200 MPH. Check out below for some latest pictures of the R8 at the show. For more information about the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder, check out Audi’s website HERE.

McLaren 650S

The McLaren has always been the king of it’s own jungle. Setting the benchmark high from day 1, the McLaren F1 broke the world record as the fastest street-legal car in the world back in 1997. Every addition to the McLaren family since then has been met with admiration and similar ground shattering performance expectations. And this year the McLaren 650S promises to live up to those unfair standards.

Let’s start with the ridiculous performance sheet.

0-60MPH: 2.9 Seconds (your neck likely snaps)

0-100MPH: 5.7 Seconds (your neck snaps again)

Top speed: 207MPH

Power: 641 HP, 500 lb-ft of torque

Mileage: 18 MPG (this is actually…pretty good)

2017 BMW i8

BMW’s latest innovation vehicle takes on both the Super Sports AND Electric arena at the same time. It’s also one of the few super sports cars that can be use as a daily vehicle. It comes with 4 seats, although the 2 back seats are sort of a joke unless you’re packing children in the back. Regardless, the option is there if you have friends willing to undergo the suffering for a chance to ride in a BMW i8.

2006 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo Competition

(yea…that’s the full name)

This was a surprise to see at the show. Saleen has never been a mainstream company and their cars have long been out of production, however they’re truly a sight to behold. The car is one of the most beautiful and easily recognizable Super Sports cars in the world. The Saleen S7 was originally designed to be both a Super Sports car that packs both performance and luxury into one. Delivering 248 MPH top speed while cozying the driver in an all leather interior, they managed to deliver performance and luxury.

Notable Mentions

Lamborghini Huracan
