Ogio Alpha Convoy 522S Carry-on Review

The Alpha Convo 522S Travel bag by Ogio is by far one of the most spacious, lightweight, and compact carry on bags on the market. However, in a stressful situation, while running from gate to gate, the bag fails miserably. Like any good millennial, I began to prepare for my business trip to Kansas City Missouri the night before. I laid out all of the possible options for clothes and began to place each article of clothing into the appropriate areas designated within the Alpha Convo 522S.

At first use, I didn’t realize how deep the packing was. It’s divided into two main areas. The large volume can fit close to 30 articles of men’s clothing. (This consists of shirts, pants, underwear, and socks) On the other side is a divided packing space with two skippered mesh panels.

Although it’s suggested to add your laptop and additional clothing, I decided to use this area for two pairs of shoes, socks, and more underwear. All of this fit incredibly well and had PLENTY of space. After surveying the entire house for anything more to fit, the carry on was completely filled. I used the outer pockets, which are by far one of the best features of this bag for smaller travel needs like hair gel, deodorant, toothbrush, and other essentials.

Again, everything fit very comfortably and remained lightweight. It’s probably due to the fact that the bag was made from 32 plastic bottles. The fact that a company is able to be a sustainable and environmentally conscious company is intriguing to me.

The problem with the Alpha Convo 522S during the stressful times of bobbing and weaving out of airport traffic within the gates. As I was traveling out of the Philadelphia International airport, I was met with a ton of people standing around. Me, being in a rush, I had to move around the patrons. As I was doing this, I noticed that although promoted as a four-wheel 360 degree Hinomoto wheels, meant for mobility, the bag never travels completely straight.

The bag always leaned in a 45 ish degree angle. Allowing me to either have the bag flip over or constantly having to readjust the bag itself. It was quite annoying, but at times forgotten because of how much I was actually able to place inside of the bag itself.

Overall, I would recommend the bag itself. It was a perfect companion on a 5-day trip. However, if mobility is your selling factor, I don’t think this bag is for you. With a $299.99 price tag, you expect to have the basics down. It may have slightly missed the mark for myself, however, if you’re the type of person that demands more space. The Ogio Alpha Convoy 522S is essential.
