Being stuck at home during lockdowns has resulted in homeowners desiring to enhance the place where they live, work, and play. At the start of the new year, homeowners will think about whether it’s time for a home makeover. And home renovation and design website Houzz revealed the top interior design trends of 2022.

Based on the current trend on the website, homeowners could get design inspirations from hotel-themed bedrooms to elegant countertops. The platform uncovered what Brits would be looking for this year. Trends set to dominate in 2022 include fun colors, natural materials, and nature-inspired tones. Styles will also include luxury outdoor spaces to bond with loved ones.

Below are the best interior designs this year first published by Daily Mail:

Hotel-worthy bathrooms

Bathrooms were the most renovated rooms in the UK last year. Britons seem to be frantic to add a bit of luxury to their home to escape the anxieties of the pandemic. With the need to relax more than ever, it is expected that a hotel-worthy look will become a hit.

The phrase “hotel bathroom” increased by 435% in searches on Houzz from January to September 2021, compared to 2020 data.

Bathrooms are leveling up from the classic and functions to luxury, spa-like spaces. The searches showed this for “sauna showers,” which tremendously grew by 1065% in 2021.

By 2022, it is predicted to notice designers and homeowners picking natural tactile materials, with wood and natural stone accents in bathrooms.

Comfortable and multi-functional bedrooms

Most bedroom interiors will feature comforting neutral tones and texture wallpapers or panels to add a sense of luxury.

With the importance of work from home setup, bedrooms have become more multi-functional. A space for a work area, exercise, and other relaxation features will become a top priority.

As for the beddings, layered natural textures such as linen and cotton in neutral colors are set to take the stage. Meanwhile, bespoke paneled units that contain storage solutions will also be an essential factor of bedroom remodeling this year.

Luxury outdoor space

Outdoor kitchen and dining areas, with indoor-style furniture and rugs, are included in the best interior design trends of 2022.

Gardens became a primary relaxation area due to the pandemic. Searches on the design platform for “garden designer’ have increased by more than eight times in 2021.

Lavish kitchen worktops

When it comes to the kitchen, superb worktops would be among the biggest interior design trends for 2022.

Thicker countertops in bright colors and eye-catching patterns will become popular this year. Flowing waterfall designs will also become a favorite of homeowners and design experts.

Biophilia meets sustainability

Natural components with biophilic design, like stone, wood, and cork, are the preferred choice in 2022. The design world’s emphasis now is “bringing the outdoors inside.”

Biophilia, the natural human instinct to connect with nature, has been an essential design concept in the previous year. It will continue to be seen in interior features such as color palettes and materials.

As the awareness of the impact on the environment and climate change increases, designers predict a more mindful approach to designs this year.

Bathroom heating

Heated floors are relatively economical and easy to install during a renovation, making it a helpful add-on. Adding electric heating panels under wall tiles also adds warmth to the bathroom.

These panels add a warm sense of luxury and remove the need for heated towel rails.

Joyful interiors

Searches by Houzz followers for “sage green,” “duck egg blue,” and “mustard yellow” increased in popularity last year. Expect more of these fantastic shades in interiors in interior design trends of 2022.
