on

Huddles, a feature encouraging casual conversations, was launched by Slack, so you never miss out due to working remotely. It has a “new video sharing and recording ability” to help users share thoughts ahead of scheduled meetings. It’s a convenient feature paired with an improved time-efficient approach by Slack. This application’s new feature will be rolled out next month for paid teams.

Slack Huddles Overview

As an overview, Huddles, Slack’s new “lightweight audio-first way” feature, solidifies the path to live conversations:

Slack, the platform that allows businesses to connect effectively, has released a new audio tool for the paid teams. Huddles recreate the spontaneous informal conversations that happen in the office. In the coming months, Slack’s new feature will be available to the paid groups to create and share videos.

Here are Huddles’ features and some new additions you need to know about Slack:

Casual Conversations

Slack’s official blog post stated that Huddles focuses on encouraging “casual conversations.” Currently, our situation requires us to work remotely. During such times, our ability to initiate quick chats remains a challenge. However, users could start huddles in any Slack channel or DM with just a few clicks.

It offers a valuable feature if you want to discuss a complex topic right off the bat. You can start Huddles without negotiating a convenient time due to busy calendars. It’s also possible to display your screen so you can have a quick discussion with the team. Huddles creates an opportunity for professionals to get through work.

Flexible Meetings

We all know it’s hard to set an internal meeting, especially if it consists of large or distributed teams. But now, say goodbye to scheduled team huddles. We can record our ideas and contribute to the conversations. The great part? We can all do this at our own pace. Instead of huddling, it’s more convenient to start having dinner.

Video-Sharing Features

The company said that it aims to help users send ideas asynchronously at the time most convenient. It doesn’t stop with the new features. One of the best parts of Huddles is creating an archived file for the recordings. The archived recordings are also included in the library with searchable transcripts. It also has the following feature for the user’s convenience:

  • Improved playback experiences
  • Speed down and speed up

According to Slack’s team, instead of juggling daily huddle meetings every 9:00 AM, close your eyes and meditatie. Imagine a space where you can record and contribute to the team discussion at all times. It’s a Huddle space that you can visit from time to time whenever you have an idea to share with the team.

This convenient tool allows anyone to watch the videos and pitch an idea on their own time. According to Slack, both Huddles and Recordings would offer live captions rather than being invisible.

Schedule Messages

Whether using a traditional or recorded message, you can schedule your most convenient hour. It’s a helpful tool if you want to be more mindful of office hours.

Scheduled messages are all about timing. For example, you managed Landers, but you need to retrieve an email from a colleague. This colleague brought the files with him and forgot to make a backup copy in the office. You can create a message to remind them to send you a copy as early as possible. After composing the message, you can schedule it to be sent the next working day.

Final Thoughts

Slack, one of the most used applications in the workforce, created yet another great feature to improve further the convenience of working. It’s a great idea to develop Huddles so employees can use their time more efficiently.  It saves co-workers from matching each other’s schedules for a team huddle. Overall, it’s another great application from the Slack team.
