Chloe Bailey Gets Emotional on IG Live After Receiving Hate Comments

Popular singing duo and sisters Chloe x Halle announced that they would have separate Instagram accounts on January 20. After years of having a shared Instagram account, the sisters decided to have individual accounts. One reason for the split is because of their distance. Another reason was to express themselves better and show different sides to them. But fans can still get their favorite “tea time” content from the sisters despite having separate accounts. However, after the Instagram split, older sister Chloe Bailey got an unwarranted backlash for posting “sexy” photos on her account. Some commenters even went so far as to say that it was bordering objectification. Upon seeing those comments, Chloe decided to address her followers on Instagram Live. During the Live, she even cried because of how she felt over those comments.

Chloe Bailey Staying True to Herself

Days following the Instagram split, Chloe Bailey has posted photos of herself, which looks different from the image shown on the sisters’ joint Instagram account.

But fans were quick to judge upon seeing that Chloe is more than just a grown-up, especially after the video she posted.

She says, “It really means a lot to me I can finally get to a place where I share who I really am.” However, she adds that even with that, she still feels insecure. Despite such, she is still “happy” that she gets to share the side of her with fans.

Empowerment or Objectification?

A common trend among young stars is when they get older, they seem to have a “drastic” change in how they look. Taking part in shows or movies by Nickelodeon or Disney, they have an “image” to uphold, considering the target demographic. But once these young stars reach adulthood, many fans or followers (or possibly haters or trollers) would notice a much more mature image.

Chloe Bailey is not the only one who has faced this type of “backlash.”

One other instance comes from Jessica Biel, who was labeled as racy for having a photoshoot in Gear Magazine. At that time, she still had an innocent image for playing a character in 7th Heaven. But Biel revealed that she felt regret having done that photoshoot.

On her Instagram Live, she reveals as she was getting emotional, “I’m finally at that place where I have self-confidence.”

Unlike some celebrities who quit social media, Chloe Bailey continues to post on her social media accounts. Not wanting to let hateful comments dictate what she posts, she carries on by posting photos and videos of herself looking confident.

Addressing the Hate Comments

Chloe Bailey maintains that,

“[E]ven when I posted the video yesterday, I was posting it because I was saging and doing Palo Santo, and I was like, let’s spread positive vibes.”

But what made people leave hurtful comments was because she showed her “ass” on the video, since she was only wearing underwear. She even said that she isn’t shying away from showing her assets, especially in their performances before. She was having fun and “being herself.”

The singer-actress even mentioned that she’s still learning to love herself.

There was even a point in her life where she believed she thought she was fat and hated her stretch marks and cellulite. But she now “loves herself.”

In one of her Instagram posts, she’s much more accepting of her stretch marks, even calling them “tiger stripes.”

She is not the first celebrity to address fans, followers, trolls, or haters on social media. Celebrities like Chrissy Teigen, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Selena Gomez have had their fair share of trolls and haters putting them down. But they don’t back down when trolls get too far.

Reminder to Women

On Instagram Live, Chloe reminds her followers and the rest of womankind, “don’t change who you are to make society feel comfortable.” She further adds that “I’m not telling myself that’s not what I’m going to do.”

Plus, she also mentioned being a black woman feeling empowered and confident, as she wipes the tears down her face. In Chloe Bailey’s case, she does it through her songwriting and producing.

She feels “badass” for having achieved those milestones in music. A day after posting the video of her waving sage in her room, she even wrote in the caption, “what should my producer tag be? ?”
