Why Amazon’s Headquarters Should Choose Indianapolis

Amazon has searched far and wide across 238 regions across North America in search for a home for their second headquarters. After much consideration, Amazon’s Headquarters settled down to 20 major cities. Tossing their hat in the ring is a city that’s no stranger to competition, Indianapolis, Indiana. “Indianapolis is a wonderful place to live and work, so it is clear why the Hoosier state is on the list of finalists for new Amazon HQ2 jobs and investment,” Congressman Todd Rokita said. “The strong Indiana business environment is a testament to principled pro-growth leadership and hardworking Hoosiers.”

City officials placed their bid for Amazon’s HQ2 in hopes of gaining recognition as a growing tech hub. Indiana’s main objective is to change its reputation to the world stage as a great state to locate and grow a business.“Indianapolis has done what may be the best urban redevelopment I’ve seen in this country,” said Bob Stutz, chief executive of Salesforce.com’s Marketing Cloud, which is based in Indianapolis, “Everyone here is aligned with making Indianapolis a successful place for technology companies. The people are tremendous, very friendly, polite, with a strong work ethic.”

Along with being home to the largest single-day sporting event in the world, the Indy 500, city officials believe Indianapolis can better accommodate Amazon’s Headquarters requirements for the 8 million square feet of office space for 50,000 employees by 2027. Other requirements that each city must meet include a 45-minute drive to a major airport, a major highway or arterial street within 2 miles, and direct access to mass transit.

The community of Indianapolis are now able to broadcast their opinions on Amazon. While state officials deal with the financial benefits, agencies and businesses within Indianapolis are now able to give insight on their city as well. This is why Amazon HQ2 should choose Indianapolis.
