5 Things You Need For A Perfect ‘No Bones’ Day

Published

on

Is today a Bones Day or a No Bones Day? If you’re unfamiliar with the term, you’re about to be charmed.

Bones or No Bones comes from Noodle, a 13-year-old pug, and his owner Jonathan Granzino (@jongraz). Every day, Granzino wakes Noodle up from a sound slumber and plays a little game. If Noodle remains standing, it’s a “Bones Day.” If Noodle flops back over, it’s a “No Bones Day.”

Bones Day means “seize the day.” It means to go out, get things done, accomplish something with gusto. No Bones Day means “rest and self-care.” It means to stay in and take care of yourself. These are feelings every one of us can relate to.

We’ve unfortunately been conditioned to feel bad about a No Bones day. Granzino, thankfully, has helped our understanding of self-care in a gentle, non-judgmental manner. There’s nothing wrong with needing a day to ourselves to recharge.

Here are five critical things you need in order to make the most out of your No Bones day.

Time To Yourself

First and foremost, you need to carve out the time to yourself. You’re taking a No Bones day, might as well make the most of it. This is YOUR time now. The most important time you will spend right now is with the character that is yourself.

A Soak and A Scrub

Self-care really shines through when you take part in a good ol’ soak and a scrub. Grab some Epsom salts, some essential oils, a few candles, and soak in that delightful homemade hot spring. Afterward, you will smell great and feel refreshed.

Your Favorite Comfort Foods

Today is your day, so nibble away! It can be Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls, a box of Cheez-Its, anything! It should probably be snacks with nutrients and sustenance because those help your mental health more in the long run. BUT raw cookie dough sometimes just hits better, ya know? Personally, I’ve been on an Indifix kick lately.

Cozy Socks and Blankets

You’ve got to feel comfortable on today of all days. Invest in some extra cozy socks like Bombas. Get a super cozy blanket like the Hug Sleep. Get cozy and get snuggly!

A Great Night’s Sleep

This is how to put a button on a great No Bones day. Ultimately, you need a great night’s sleep. If you’ve spent the day resting, it may be a little difficult to actually fall asleep. However, there are healthy aids to help get you off to dreamland. One is valerian root, an ancient sleep aid that is totally safe to take before bed. Another is exercise. Tire your body out a bit and then sleep will come.
